Easy Declutter for Small Entrances

Easy Declutter for Small Entranceways
Do you have a small or cluttered entranceway? Many people who are not lucky enough to have a closet for their belongings, end up with boot trays and shoes spilling out all over the floor. There are many solutions for this situation. Lets just touch on a couple options for this season. Lets take a look at hooks and baskets as a basic.
My favorite option in an entrance for a small family would have to be a shoe rack, baskets, and hooks. That will literally give you the tools you need to get your entrance in order. Depending on exactly how much room you have, will help you decide how large of items you can purchase. I highly recommend measuring your space so when you go buy the items, you will know how big you can go with them. The more tiers on your shoe rack, the better.

This entrance has very little room and no closet space. The hooks are installed on a half-wall, so they are very low. This is great for anyone, but especially kids. There will be no excuses for jackets or backpacks on the floor anymore. πŸ˜‰ There are definitely more shoes in the house than just this rack – you have to put a limit on how many shoes will be allowed to remain close to the door. Each person in the family will probably have three pairs on the rack. If they have more than that, they will have to have another area where they are kept, like in their bedroom or another designated “out of the way area”(I will have to cover that one in another post :)).

Baskets can be to your taste or look for a size that will fit on top of your shoe rack. Depending on the size of your family and how many items will be stored there; you can always stack your baskets. Here are a couple of options in the pics below.

For larger families, you may need a large basket plus stacking other baskets to keep things in check ;)

There are so many things you can put in your baskets. It really depends on how your family lives. It’s fall right now and time to start thinking of cold weather. Out come the layers – brrrrrrr. So these baskets will house mostly: hats, mitts, scarves, etc. One basket will be used for ‘in and out’ school items and other things that need to be remembered as you leave the door such as keys, etc. It doesn’t matter if the baskets are messy, as long as you keep everything together. It’s not about looking pristine, it’s about finding the item you are looking for. So, if you always throw your hats in the basket, you will always know where to find them. It’s all about saving you time in your life – if you get out the door in a hassel-free, timely manner, that’s the whole point. You’re doing great! πŸ™‚
