Junk Drawer NO MORE!

Are you looking for a quick and easy way to clear the clutter from some of your utensil drawers, if not all? There are certainly a lot of ways to do this, but the main advice I can give is that you should keep things separated so everything doesn’t end up in a big jumbled mess. Once you get things separated(a system in place), it’s a lot easier to maintain it. You won’t be scrambling to find everything, saving you time and hassle. Read More→

Bye-Bye to Hard Water stains in the toilet

I found a chemical-free way to remove hard water stains from porcelain!  We’re always searching for cleaning products that are better for our health, well-being, and the environment as a whole.  I wish this item worked on more surfaces, but for now, I’ve only found a way to use it on porcelain.  It is totally chemical free and is NOT even a liquid!  And, oh yeah – costs next to nothing!!!

My 5 fave uses for Vinegar

Vinegar is one of those products you CANNOT do without around the home.  It’s all natural and very inexpensive.  If you wanna stay healthier and save a little cash-ola here and there, make sure you have pick up a big jug of vinegar at the grocery store this week!

Vinegar, in it’s various forms, can be a healer, a disinfectant, a preservative, an acid, and a condiment.  This is a pretty impressive list considering it’s a by-product of something gone bad. 🙂  😉 Read More→

Clean Glass & Mirror BETTER… for LESS $!

I’ve tried many different techniques for cleaning glass and mirror over the years. Many times the results come out streaky. In turn, just wasting a ton of that nice, expensive, “white roll” of paper towels. Sure they are soft and fluffy and feel like they should do a great job, but…. NOPE! These are the worst! You will waste more paper towel, trying to get the job done right, and at the cost of them, you don’t wanna be doing that, my friend. 😉 Save those paper towels for messy spills and other wipe-ups.

Recognize these?  These are the type to which I’m referring.  Obviously there are plenty of brands on the market.  I just show you this picture to MAKE SURE we are “on the same page” during this post. :).  These can cost approximately 20 cents per square meter.

Conquer Hard Water Stains – my new found method!

Beautiful shower glass after vinegar & Bar Keepers Friend
It’s a wonderful feeling – you clean the washroom and it’s all sparkly ‘n’ shiny when you finish.  However, on the other hand, it’s extremely frustrating when those hard water stains remain, and keep your taps and glass from giving us that ‘diamond bright‘ look.

People call them by all kinds of names: hard water stains, lime scale, mineral deposits, hard water deposits, etc.  But whatever you call them, they are a pain in the a_ _ !!!  Read More→

Putting Natural Products around the home, to the test – part 1

Save yourself money and the environment with these tips. 🙂

For many years I have gone back and forth between trying natural products, and the old “stand-bys” like Comet, Pine Sol, Windex, etc… So, it keeps being brought to my attention about how harmful the chemicals are in the stronger products. I really am torn between both. I have to say, I love my old “stand-by” cleaners. They get the job done and fast! But I love the thought of sustaining our environment and keeping me and my family healthy as well, so I’m making it a point to try and use products which are natural and can still accomplish the tasks at hand. I know I could just go purchase ‘natural’ products off the shelf, but that can get a little pricey. Let’s just stick to finding something you already have in your cupboards.

Just a few natural possibilities for cleaning around the house - Vinegar, Baking Soda and Borax

Just a few natural possibilities for cleaning around the house – Vinegar, Baking Soda and Borax

I’ve spent a lot of time looking for tips on uses for products such as vinegar, baking soda, salt, etc. I’ve taken many of these tips and put them to the test in my own home, as well as using few ‘guinea pig’ volunteers as well, so you don’t have to ;). Some hints work quite well, and others just swirl around the internet like a never ending tornado. People tend to pass along “helpful hints” without even testing whether or not it works. I found myself lost in this tornado of tips. I had to test as many as possible so I could stop the swirling, and put them to rest. Read More→
